TELETRAC NAVMAN TRANSPORTS DRIVER COACHING INTO THE FUTURE WITH LEADING SMART DASHCAMS RELEASE

Global leaders of telematics and tracking solutions, Teletrac Navman has transformed in-cab driver training with the launch of Smart Dashcams – which pioneers the use of AI video technology and represents a significant development in dashcam innovation and driver coaching.

Milton Keynes, April 25th 2022 - Smart Dashcams reviews every minute of drive time through forward and driver-facing cameras to develop sophisticated, engaging driver coaching. AI video captures driving behaviour together with training events which can be reviewed retrospectively by the transport manager. The system also learns on the job allowing training to be continually fine-tuned as driver skill increases. The driver can access Smart Dashcams via a mobile app where actions and coaching events can be viewed, creating a positive culture around driver safety.

The innovative application integrates with Teletrac Navman’s TN360 platform, and can send automatic in-cab guidance to encourage best practices. It can notify drivers of potentially dangerous situations allowing them to take avoiding action, for example, it will alert a driver that appears distracted behind the wheel.

It aims to empower transport managers to develop fleet safety programs proactively; deliver highly tailored training programmes; and build driver trust through the personalised approach, transparency and immediacy of the training.

Barney Goffer, UK Product Manager at Teletrac Navman added: “The cutting-edge, built-in coaching program gives this solution a strong point of difference that will help customers manage risk. From a driver’s perspective, the AI engine is continually recording and learning, which means monitoring behaviour is tailored to each individual to make training more valuable and meaningful.”

Peter Millichap, Marketing Director at Teletrac Navman, commented: “We’re excited to bring this new ground-breaking technology to the UK, following its success in the US and Australian markets. AI-powered video technology removes the guesswork and manual processes for operators and promotes transparency and trust in commercial drivers.

“Findings from the latest Department for Transport report showed that there were 19,152 road accidents in the UK in 2020, supporting the importance of promoting a positive safety culture within fleets.

“In addition, it allows transport managers to turn data into decisions that can positively impact vehicle operating costs, for example, cutting down on fuel consumption, which is a priority now more than ever.”
