1. Increased visibility of its fleet’s performance by 100%
2. Improved driver behaviour by 68%
3. Helped reduce cost of insurance premiums

Before installing a telematics and tracking system, Denholm Industrial Services had limited visibility of its drivers and vehicles working nationwide.

Prior to our partnership, we recognised we did not have complete fleet insight, and the integration has given the organisation greater peace of mind with regards to colleague safety on the job. Whilst improving safety measures was the overriding reason for rolling out the technology, the cost savings we’ve achieved cannot be ignored

Limited visibility of driver behaviour

HOW TO IMPROVE SAFETY

Before installing a telematics and tracking system, Denholm Industrial Services had limited visibility of its drivers and vehicles working nationwide. Given the drive to continually improve safety at the company, this was an area on which the Transport Manager wanted to improve, especially as the drivers often work in challenging environments. Without an end-to-end overview of its daily operations, the business did not have full insight into the behaviour and performance of its drivers. There was also the opportunity to improve the productivity and efficiency of the fleet through real time data.

Daisy Holman, Transport Manager at Denholm Industrial Services, commented: “Scaffolds are commonly used so workers have a safe, stable work platform and at Denholm Industrial Services, we work with the latest in scaffold safety innovation. Due to the very nature of the services we deliver to our customers and our focus on a strong safety culture, it was even more important that we took the necessary steps to ensure best practice in driver safety.”

Developing the Right Solution

INTRODUCING SAFETY ANALYTICS

Initially, Denholm Industrial Services implemented Teletrac Navman’s DIRECTOR platform, which is an advanced fleet tracking system that enables logistics managers to have access to real time data in one easy-to-use interface. More recently, following the appointment of a new transport manager and in support of its ongoing commitment to safety, the business upgraded to utilise the Safety Analytics module in DIRECTOR to create a driver safety programme, motivating drivers with scorecards and using them as a tool to improve behaviour and boost morale.

Commenting on the new software, Holman said: “When I joined the business, and in keeping with the safety culture at Denholm Industrial Services, I wanted to reinforce our mission of ensuring drivers make it home safely every day. With Safety Analytics we now have access to an array of behavioural insights to help further improve driver safety performance and wellbeing. The weekly report gives each driver a score based on their driving and we act on that data through regular feedback and training.”

A successful Partnership

DATA-DRIVEN INSIGHTS ENABLE BETTER BUSINESS DECISIONS

Speaking on the positive results, Holman, commented: “Prior to our partnership, we recognised we did not have complete fleet insight, and the integration has given the organisation greater peace of mind with regards to colleague safety on the job. Whilst improving safety measures was the overriding reason for rolling out the technology, the cost savings we’ve achieved cannot be ignored; we’ve reduced our overall fleet costs as a result of operational efficiencies, and we’ve driven down our insurance premiums too.

After installing Safety Analytics, we’ve set benchmarks for driving performance and provide regular reports to each driver with their latest scores, as well as hints and tips for improvement – it’s created a healthy competition between the workforce that has paid dividends for us, with a reduction in accidents.

Much of our success can be attributed to our dedicated customer success specialist at Teletrac Navman, who has been invaluable in helping us make the most of the partnership and tools available to us. It’s safe to say that Teletrac Navman tick every box for us as a business. Indeed, I’ve worked with competitor systems in a previous role and found them substandard compared with what Teletrac Navman and its team deliver.
